Robin Hood Marathon Events Weekend Celebrates 40 Years

It’s the big 4 0 for the city’s favourite running festival! Entries are now open for the 40th Robin Hood Marathon Events Weekend returning to Nottingham on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September 2020.

The first ever Robin Hood runners took to the streets in 1981 and since, the event has become a firm favourite in the race calendar for thousands across the country. In the past decade alone, over 100,000 runners have laced up, taken to the 13.1 mile course and proudly collected their finishers’ medal.

There’s an event for everyone at this milestone occasion – kids, get ready to take on mum and dad at the start line of the Mini Marathon. Put your classmates to the test with the Schools Challenge and who will reign champion of your colleagues in the Corporate Challenge? Following runner feedback and making conscious steps in the event’s approach to sustainability, a 2-tier race entry structure will be offered; one for those runners who would like a 40th anniversary commemorative finisher’s t-shirt and a goody bag from £35.95, and an alternative option for those just wanting their race medal from £29.95.

Millions of pounds have been raised for national and local charities over the years. In the past decade alone, the event has helped to raise over £3 million for the vital work of organisations such as Cancer Research UK, NSPCC, ABF The Soldier’s Charity, Forever Stars, Stroke Association and Nottingham Hospitals Charity, to name a few. Home to Britain’s finest athletes, first timers and charity fundraisers, the event is proud to cater for all, from youngsters to parents, colleagues to running groups – no matter your age, running ability, this festival is for all.
