ABF The Soldiers' Charity

ABF The Soldiers' Charity

We are The Soldiers' Charity: 'For Soldiers – For Life'

ABF The Soldiers' Charity is the Army's National Charity. Established as the Army Benevolent Fund in 1944 to ensure that the hardships endured by soldiers in the aftermath of 1914-18 were never repeated. ABF The Soldiers' Charity are for soldiers, for life. We provide financial assistance to all soldiers and their families when in need. Even when a soldier leaves the Army they are still part of our family and eligible for our help. The scope of our work is huge. Half of our money is given direct to individuals to help in areas such as debt relief, mobility assistance, education bursaries, care home fees and respite breaks. The other half is given as grants to other charities. To provide independence and dignity for every soldier and veteran is something we are incredibly proud to do. If needs be, we can provide vital help within 48 hours. We have supported individuals aged from nine months to 105 years.

Running this half marathon for ABF The Soldiers' Charity we will provide you with a VIP package of support, in return for you raising much needed funds for such a worthy cause. For more information please contact the fundraising team at emeventsteam@soldierscharity.org

equation

Equation

equal relationships free from abuse

Equation's goal as a charity is for everyone to have equal, healthy relationships, in a society free from domestic abuse, sexual violence and gender inequality.

1 in 4 women will be abused by a partner, ex or family member at some point in their lives and on average 2 women a week lose their lives because of domestic violence and men also experience domestic abuse.

Working primarily in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, Equation delivers education to the whole community to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence, promote gender equality and raise aspirations for healthy relationships. We provide practical tools and guidance to support the well-being and safety needs of survivors.

We are a pioneering, local charity and our work includes a Men's Domestic Abuse Service, the only service of its kind in Nottinghamshire, where we provide one to one support for men who are experiencing domestic abuse and violence. We work with children and young people in schools to deliver healthy relationship projects, train community workers to recognise and respond to survivors of abuse and help to reduce harm and we campaign for gender equality and the prevention of domestic abuse in our community.

Stroke association

Stroke association

We are the Stroke Association and we believe in life after stroke.

Stroke is sudden and devastating, striking every five minutes in the UK. It can take away your speech, your ability to walk, your memory and your independence. The Stroke Association works to help those affected by stroke take back control, reclaim their independence and live their lives again.

Thanks to improvements to stroke care you are twice as likely to survive a stroke than 20 years ago, however stroke remains the fourth single largest cause of death in the UK.

Your support helps fund pioneering preventative and rehabilitative stroke research. It also funds our national Helpline, Life After Stroke Services and Life After Stroke Grants for stroke survivors experiencing financial hardship. Our work relies heavily on the generosity of our supporters. Without you we could do very little.

Join Team Stroke and help us to make a difference today. Together we can conquer stroke.

Fighting corruption worldwide

Whether it is an individual unable to receive healthcare from a state where the health budget has been stolen by a corrupt Minister, a young person priced out of a UK housing market flooded with corrupt cash, or a village devastated by an extremist attack with the help of illicit arms sales – corruption is never a victimless crime. At TI-UK we strive for a world in which those that suffer at the hands of corruption are free of its burden.

The problem is a massive one. Only recently it was estimated by the National Crime Agency (NCA) that the "scale of money laundering impacting the UK annually is in the hundreds of billions of pounds".

Nonetheless it is something that can be overcome. With our strong evidenced based research and effective campaigning record, we have already made important steps in combatting the issues. Most recently we secured a legislative measure known as the Unexplained Wealth Order (UWO), which enables law enforcement agencies to more easily investigate and seize corrupt money. With your support we can continue to make progress against a problem far in its reach and deep in its impact.

Double Impact

Double Impact

Rebuilding Lives Destroyed By Addiction

Founded in 1998 Double Impact works across Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire offering a unique service that deals with all the issues facing people recovering from alcohol and drug dependency.

Drug and alcohol addiction affects people from all walks of life and the reasons behind it can be complex - research is now showing that in many cases it stems from childhood trauma or difficult life events. When people come to us they have often lost their home, their health, their job, family, friends and hope having been caught up in a vicious cycle of addiction, problems, shame and guilt . However, with the right support at the right time, people can and do fully recover, able to take up their place in society and be excellent citizens, parents, family members and employees. Addiction doesn't need to destroy lives.

Empowering families with disabled children

At FootprintsCEC, most of our work involves children with motor learning difficulties or motor development delay. We encourage the child to develop basic motor, sensory and self-help skills (such as sitting, standing, touching, listening, looking, eating, and playing), working in small groups based on their age, specific needs, and abilities.

The early intervention that we offer quickly benefits young children with cerebral palsy, or other conditions caused by damage to the part of the brain that controls movement. With the help of our programmes and strategies, children learn to overcome their physical challenges and, so, their challenges to learning.

Part of our work is to help parents understand and accept their child’s disability and teach them how to help their child. All too often, parents of disabled children don’t know where to turn – they may feel isolated, powerless, or depressed.

Our staff give parents and siblings the emotional support they need to help them cope, as well as offering practical advice and information. We also give parents the opportunity to share knowledge and experiences and provide mutual support.
